The 2009 Woman of Peace Award was awarded to Annie Lennox. Annie was awarded for helping raise awareness of the HIV/AIDS impact on women and children, especially in South Africa through her “Sing” campaign. Annie wore a HIV Positive t-shirt to raise awareness of the disease’s devastating effect all over the world, especially in Africa.
